Our story
It started in a little room at the YMCA
Founder Lisa Gombinsky Roach kept reading research on the benefits of exercise for Parkinson’s, but couldn’t find anyone putting it into practice in New Zealand. So she gathered a small group of keen boxers and started New Zealand’s first boxing-based Parkinson’s exercise group.
The group soon outgrew the room. Shane Cameron came to watch, grabbed a pair of pads and jumped in. Today Counterpunch Parkinson’s has a national network of certified coaches.
